Join us for Sunday morning worship at 10am.
If you are newer to River Community Church, or are planning to visit for the first time, below are a few things that will help you to know what to expect on Sunday mornings, so that you might have the best experience possible.
Our building is located at 511 East 7th St. If you have been in the community for awhile, you might know it as the “old elementary school”.
You are welcome to park on the street, or to use our parking lot. Our south entrance is our main entrance, but many people park on the street and enter through the north entrance. Feel free to use either one.
Our Sunday school classes run from 9:15am-9:45am. During that time, the nursery is available for ages 0-3. We have classes for ages 3-1st grade, 2nd-5th grade, 6th-12th grade and adults. The nursery and all of the kids classes are in the classrooms surrounding our “Fellowship Area”, which is in the middle of the building. If you come to the Fellowship Area, you’ll be able to grab some coffee and easily find classes for all your kids. Adults are welcome to jump into our adult class, or to enjoy fellowship in the Fellowship Area before our service starts.
Our service begins at 10am. Many people arrive 5-15 minutes early to get kids settled into the nursery, to come to the Fellowship Area to enjoy coffee and fellowship and to prepare to worship.
As you enter the building, greeters will be waiting to welcome you, to hand you a bulletin, to help you feel comfortable and to answer any questions you might have.
During the entire worship service, the nursery is available for kids ages 0-3 (or older, if needed). We know that all kids and all families are different, and we especially want to be a blessing to families with special needs. If your family has special needs that we might be able to accommodate, or you feel the nursery could be a benefit to one of your older children, contact the church office, or talk to one of the nursery volunteers, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your need. Our nursery is staffed with at least 1 lead adult and at least 1 non-related helper.
We know that for parents of young children, Sunday mornings can be intimidating. We want you to be able to relax! We have lots and lots of kids in our church, and think of ourselves as a big family. If your child cries or makes a bit of noise or you need to get up during the service, that’s totally ok with us!
Our music is led by a worship band, but the most important instrument is always the congregation’s voices. We love singing, and we sing songs both old and new.
We typically preach through whole books of the Bible “expositionally”. That means that we try to plainly teach what the Bible says, while drawing out real-life, relevant application for our lives.
We don’t “pass the plate”, during the worship service. But, rather, you’ll see a box in our worship space for offerings/donations. If you are a visitor, the only thing we invite you to put in the box is the “communication form” in your bulletin, so that we can get to know you better.
The things on the information table and the books on the bookshelves, fellowship area and conference room are yours for the taking. You can read them, keep them, give them away or return them.
We hope to see you soon!
